Known as the “Cleaners”, the Back 4 Blood characters have got a tough job on their hands if they’re really trying to clean up. Those Ridden are a tough bunch. With 8 different Cleaners to choose from, each with their traits and starting equipment there is a good amount to pick from. So let’s take a look at all of the characters in Back 4 Blood we know about so far.
Evangelo

Even though Evangelo is the youngest and least experienced Cleaner, he is described as a loyal and reliable member of the team who’s quick to learn. Evangelo has traits that allow him to break free of grabs, boost movement speed and have faster stamina regen. He also starts out with a Molotov.
Walker

Elijah Walker is the oldest of five siblings. As a former Army Ranger and veteran, he’s highly skilled and has a lot of combat experience. He might be a man of few words, but what words he does use convey confidence and leadership among his fellow Cleaners. Walker has traits that boost accuracy on precision kills, as well as +10 to team health and damage.
Holly

The Devil Worm – i.e. the parasite which started this whole zombie mess – took Holly’s family from her. Since then, she has channelled her energy into being a Cleaner. With her baseball bat Dottie always to hand, she is resilient and persistent. Holly is also seen as someone who keeps
the team together and morale high. She regains 10 stamina when killing a Ridden, and gives stamina boosts to the team.
Hoffman

When everything kicked off, Hoffman and his mother boarded up their house and hunkered down. After the passing of his mother, conspiracy theorist Hoffman left his house to face the Devil Worm. He’s now found a new family with the Cleaners, and his meticulous and enthusiastic nature has seen him fit in well. Hoffman has traits that increase ammo capacities and gain an extra inventory slot.
Mom

Always putting the needs of others above her own and never shirking from a challenge, Mom is a tough character who knows how to handle all situations. Since the death of her son, Mom has just one purpose – making the Ridden pay. Mom has a few support-focused traits, including an instant revive trait and increased support inventory.
Doc

Doc is an independent person and has been instrumental in keeping Fort Hope up and running. She has excelled in this thanks to her no-nonsense attitude and pragmatic outlook. Unsurprisingly, Doc also has support traits like being able to heal a teammate for 25 health once per level.
Karlee

Secretive Karlee isn’t quick to let anyone else in. She only trusts herself and has been surviving on the outskirts of Fort Hope since the collapse. Technically, she’s not a Cleaner, but Karlee has certainly sided with them since things took a turn. Her traits allow her to sense hazards, boost team use speed and extra quick inventory slots.
Back 4 Blood might look a lot like Left 4 Dead, but its traits and card systems make it stand out its own and the game is looking excellent. It’s coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
