Announcing RPG MAKER UNITE - An Ambitious Project to use Unity for the next RPG Maker installment!
At Gotcha Gotcha Games, it is our sincerest wish to help aspiring game developers to create their own games without the many hurdles of game development. RPG MAKER UNITE is our latest endeavor to this mission.
RPG Maker series has always been known for its easy-to-use eventing system and user-friendly interface. We decided to up the ante further by using the great features of the highly popular Unity engine!
With RPG MAKER UNITE's codeless system and Unity's powerful features, the RPG of your dreams is closer than ever!
■Major Features:
●I can play my games on Smartphone!? Smartphone build is easier than ever!!
RPG MAKER UNITE officially supports building on four different platforms: Windows, MacOS, Android and iOS! *WebGL will be supported in the future.
Please note that builds to other environments are dependent on the Unity editor environment that each user has access to, as well as the contract status the user has with different hardware manufacturers.
●Greatly Enhanced Character Animation! Now with Variable Patterns and Frames!!
In previous RPG Makers at its default state, Character Animations were limited to a maximum of 3 patterns due to various design limitations. In RPG MAKER UNITE, this limitation no longer exists, and users can now freely create and specify the number of frames and how it is animated, as long as the animation files stay within the maximum image size!

●Enhanced Map Editor with Parallax Mapping and Large Objects Placement
In addition to traditional tilsets, in RPG MAKER UNITE users can use images as maps and set collision, and quickly place "Large Parts" such as buildings and trees onto maps! Map making is now more fun than ever while looking much more beautiful!
●The First RPG Maker in the Series to Natively Support Full HD Resolution!!
Here it is - the long sought-after request from Maker fans - native FHD (1920x1080) resolution! Time to make your game look much better than ever!
By going to a higher native resolution, created games could be sharper, more colorful, and more vivid than ever! This is tremendous power in terms of creation freedom at your fingertips - and remember - all WITHOUT a single line of coding!
●Outline Editor
The brand new “Outline Editor” is an assist tool that can give users a bird's eye view of the various chapters of the entire game to help manage complex stories and scenarios!

・Rewriting the Source Code Through Unity Editor
In RPG MAKER UNITE, users can call out the Unity Editor UI any time as needed. Through this, users can confirm and rewrite a part of the source code however they see fit (Note: with the exception of some DLL files). This is especially useful for large-scale modification!
Although the source code is open for viewing in Unity Editor, please do adhere to the EULAs here.
・Using “Addons”
In RPG Maker series, users have always been able to develop and use scripts known in the community as “plugins” to expand engine functionalities not available by default. In RPG MAKER UNITE, users can use “Addons” to enhance and expand the engine. We changed the name due to how the internal processing works differently from past RPG Makers, but the concept and usage is identical. However, please do note that like always, we cannot provide official support on the development or usage of Addons.
Note: RPG MAKER UNITE requires the usage of Unity Editor game engine.

The Maker series are game development software that dates as far back to the 1990s. We released multiple engines fitting different developer needs such as RPGs, Visual Novels, Action Games, and so on. While the past Maker titles were standalone software, we believe that with Unity's capabilities and our 30 years of experience in making visually forward engines, we can provide an experience that makes the game development process so much easier!
