Reducing C02 by Planting trees
Once you have trained yourself up in Call of Duty: WWII’s campaign, you will be ready to set your boots on the online battlefields of multiplayer. Once you feel comfortable enough, you will be faced with a bunch of choices. For tips on how to kit out your character, read our Call of Duty: WWII Divisions guide. If you want to know about guns, we laid out Call of Duty: WWII’s weapons here.
Our next guide will talk you through the various modes in multiplayer, so you can see which one suits your preferences the most.
Here are the different modes you can play at the time of writing.
It’s simple, really. There are two teams fighting for the most kills. The team to reach the kill cap, or the team with the most kills when the timer runs out, wins the match.
Domination is a battle for tactical control points dotted around the map. The aim is to get in, kill the opposition, and have your team hold the control points as long as possible, accruing points for each one held.
It’s every person for themselves in this tight, frantic game mode. The only tip you need is this: if you see someone, pull the trigger. There are no friends here.
It’s American football with guns. Both teams are jostling for control of a ball in the centre of the map. Pick it up, then run it into your opponent’s goal to score.
One team attacks, one team defends. There are no respawns. The attacking team must either eliminate the enemy team or place an explosive at one of two bomb sites. The defenders have to hold them off for the time limit or wipe them out.
Similar to Domination, Hardpoint is all about capturing tactical points on the map. The twist here is that both teams are always fighting over one point, and the point moves position as the match rolls on.
A classic game mode, Capture the Flag has both teams trying to get into the other team’s base, steal their flag, and run it back to their base before being shot.
Kill Confirmed is Team Deathmatch with a twist. As well as taking down the enemy team, you have to confirm your kills by making it to the downed player’s body and picking up their dog tags.
Mosh Pit is a rotating playlist of different modes. A great choice for those who can’t make up their mind what to play.
New to Call of Duty: WWII, War Mode is a narrative-driven battle that alters as you move up the map. One side attacks and one side defends, but the objectives shift as the attackers push forward. If you are looking for an epic recreation of war, look no further.
Headquarters is the place to go for messing about. Call of Duty: WWII’s all-new social space is your hangout for showing off your unlocks, opening loot crates, and taking part in shooting competitions.
Call of Duty: WWII launched with 13 maps in total, including Carentan, a map for Season Pass Holders. Out of those 13, ten are available in the core modes, and three are only playable in War. Here are all the maps:
