Bluehole recently announced that their popular Battle Royale game, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds will be heading to Gamescom this year in the form of a PUBG Invitational.
The studio have partnered with ESL, with support from the Intel Game Dev program and will feature a $350,000 prize pool, with 80 of the world’s best PUBG players and influencers taking part. The invitational will include solo mode and duo mode, duo first person mode and squad mode across the four day event. The winner will be determined by the best overall score from three games played.
“From very early on we knew that the success of PUBG was reliant on the passion of its community,” said Bluehole VP and executive producer Chang Han Kim. “We want to celebrate this by inviting eighty of the top players from around the world to compete in the first offline invitational.
“It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how quickly our community has grown, and can’t wait to hear about everyone’s experience this summer.”
Bluehole also recently announced that vanity ingame items will be available from the 3rd August. They will be offering three new crates including, The Survivor Crate, The Wanderer Crate and a special, limited edition Gamescom Invitational Crate, which will require a $2.50 key to open.
